Project Description:
Randomly assigned an artist at the beginning of the course, we were tasked to create various works that would represent a certain designer given to us. The work done would be representative of their design style and legacy, and I was set to design for Stefan Sagmeister. We would create a logo, stamp, and postcard that would use the previous work and build upon creating a sort of brand identity for the designer. We began by researching the artist and their work, taking into consideration their style.
Creating work for Stefan Sagmeister required much research and consideration of his style, as he has a broad yet specific type of work. His work can be described as performative and experimental art, using a lot of physical imagery, he brings typography into the real world. He has said that he does not prefer to use digital work as his main medium, and it is reflected in his work. Using this research, I focused on making my work have handwritten aspects, and creating imagery by setting up a scene and taking photos.
